PINDAD To Build Locally Made Medium Tank

AFTER successfully mass producing Anoa combat vehicle, Indonesian military factory, PT Pindad plans to build another medium battle tank (Medium Battle Tank).

"We will make a medium battle tank," said Head of Corporate Secretariat PT Pindad Iwan Kusdiana, PT Pindad, Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday (16/10/2012).

Iwan explained, the stage will begin concentrating on desigining a medium battle tank, its weighs about 20 tons.

Although plans for the new medium battle tank has been done, Iwan said it would develop without the transfer of technology (ToT) with a manufacturer of tanks from abroad.

"We did not work together with outside. This time, we developed it ourselves," said Iwan.

Iwan is optimistic that his company could finish the development of a medium battle tank with a rapid timeframe. The target, in 2014, it had become a prototype tank.
